As anticipated (see page 2 of the 2017 Borough newsletter here), Strasburg Borough Authority
has approved an increase in rates for customers of the Borough’s sewer system. The
8% rise in rates, effective with the fourth quarter billing cycle, amounts to
an increase of $4.12 per quarter for up to 5,000 gallons of usage. Water rates remain
the same as before. The new quarterly minimum bill
will be $88.66 for water and sewer combined. Consumption above the minimum
will be billed according to the rate schedule that can be viewed HERE.
Customers will see this increase on their bills in early January 2018.
The 2018 Proposed Budget for the Borough of Strasburg is open for public inspection from November 21 until December 12, 2017, during normal business hours of 7:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday, at the Strasburg Borough Offices, 145 Precision Avenue, Strasburg, PA. Strasburg Borough is accepting letters of interest for volunteers to serve on the Zoning Hearing Board. Candidates should be Borough residents, available to attend, in most cases, 1 monthly meeting and have a sincere interest in the role of the board, along with a desire to serve their community. You are not permitted to blow or shovel snow into the travel lane of any roadway!
Also, you have 24 hours after snowfall cessation to remove snow and ice
from your sidewalks, cleaning a path of at least 30 inches wide.
Water/Sewer bills for the third quarter of 2017 were mailed on Friday, October 6, 2017 and were due Monday, November 6. If you have any questions, contact us at the Borough Office immediately at (717) 687-7732. Bills for residential rental units in the Borough are sent to the property owner of record, rather than to the tenant. It is the property owner’s responsibility to ensure that the bill is paid in full, on time, to the Strasburg Borough Authority.
Customers in Strasburg Township are reminded that their water payment
is payable to Strasburg Township (not Strasburg Borough Authority),
and should be mailed to: Strasburg Township, 400 Bunker Hill Rd., Strasburg, PA 17579.
Real Estate Agents Reminder – Off-site real estate signs are not permitted
in the Borough and will be removed and kept at the Borough Office. You can
call the office at 717-687-7732 to retrieve your illegal sign.
The Strasburg Borough Police Department is taking part in a program sponsored by the Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office to help residents get rid of expired or unwanted medications in a safe and secure manner. Bring your unwanted items to the Strasburg Borough Office, 145 Precision Avenue, Strasburg, Monday through Friday 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. If a police officer is in station when you visit, they will take the medicines from you, or you may leave them with the front office staff for proper disposal.
