This morning construction commenced on the East Main Street/South Decatur Street/Shenk Avenue Stormwater Project with the removal of a tree and road cutting.
DH Funk & Sons LLC is the contractor for this job. Weather permitting, they would like to have Shenk Avenue work completed by the beginning of February and then begin on the East Main Street portion of work. When East Main Street work begins there will be a local traffic only detour. All residents will have access to their homes during the detour, but this will limit additional traffic on the roadway. The portion of East Main Street from the Square to Shenk Avenue will be completed first, then the portion from Shenk Avenue to the 100 block, and finally the eastern end in the area of Speckled Hen. Work on South Decatur Street will follow. Substantial project completion is targeted for mid-summer, this includes paving.
