Strasburg Borough Council February 10, 2026 Municipal Brief

At the February 10, 2026 Strasburg Borough Council meeting, Borough Council accepted the 2025 Qualified Strasburg Fire Company Volunteers from Strasburg Borough list, approved the Brendle Tract Sewer Module and adopted Resolution 2026-3 to revise the Borough’s Official Sewage Facilities Plan for the new land development, approved a reduction in the bonds for Charter Homes at Strasburg, Inc. Heritage Strasburg, and approved the Eli E. Fisher Lot Add-on Application for 101 Miller Street.

In other business, Borough Council also approved the Historical Architectural Review Board Certificates of Appropriateness for 20 Miller Street and 136 Miller Street, accepted the 2025 Annual Civil Service Commission and Planning Commission reports, and approved requests for Strasburg Fire Police to assist at the Bart Township Mud Sale on March 7 and 21, 2026 and the Rails and Ales event on March 28, 2026.  Borough Council also accepted Steve VanOrmer’s resignation from the Historical Architectural Review Board and thanked him for over 50 years of service.

The Borough Manager’s written report was reviewed, and the following items were discussed:  1) Received Council approval to advertise via the website and social media that we have two open HARB positions available for candidates who live in the Historic District.  2) The stormwater project has begun and we are working through some detour signage challenges.  3) We were awarded the $350,000 Eshelman Run Phase II streambank restoration grant.  4) The PA Auditor General’s office completed a reduced period engagement Pension audit.  The Borough’s annual audit began and the auditors are pleased with how we maintain our records.  5) The Public Works Department repaired two sewer forcemain and three waterline breaks since the beginning of December.  They also did a good job plowing the snow at the end of January.  The Borough Manager and Council commended the Public Works Department for their dedication and hard work.

The Police Chief reported 388 calls for service for the month of January 2026.  There were 3 criminal arrests, 6 speeding arrests, 30 other traffic arrests, 42 traffic warnings, 5 parking tickets, and 4 accidents.
