East Main Street/South Decatur Street/Shenk Avenue Stormwater Project Update #17
The construction work continues and the contractor is on schedule. The only work tomorrow, Friday, May 15, 2026, will be Speckled Hen’s parking lot expansion, which is not part of our project.
Next week, we plan to begin the trench restoration at the east end and move in a westerly direction towards the Square and partially down Shenk Avenue. Access will be more difficult during paving operations. If you live within the construction zone, extra patience will be needed getting in and out and you may only be able to go one direction from your home. Early next week it is suggested you travel West and as the paving operations continue and the crews pass your residence, please drive East.
During paving operations, with the exception of school busses, through traffic is discouraged. The contractor will continue work next week until all necessary work is completed to open the road for Memorial Day weekend. The South Decatur Street detour will begin on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.
